Flamingo partners with Top Drawer for retail trade show

This September, Flamingo partnered with Top Drawer for the Autumn/Winter edition of its biannual retail trade show. The event was underpinned by a series of trends identified by Louise Healy-Adonis – senior strategist in Flamingo’s Futures team – for the AW 19/20 season. These trends were informed by our ongoing analysis of the macro shifts that are driving cultural change. For example, ‘Omniwellness’ sees the expansion of the wellness movement beyond physical health, a shift that is manifesting as consumer desire for everyday products which provide spiritual, emotional and mental-health-enhancing benefits. Throughout Top Drawer, Flamingo operated Retail Clinics, where we outlined our approach to strategic insight and provided exhibitors and visitors with tailored advice. We looked at how – and why – attitudes are changing, the impact that this is likely to have on consumption behaviours, and how businesses can adapt to stay ahead of the curve.

As part of RetailFest – a series of masterclasses, discussions and interviews within Top Drawer – Louise was invited to host two panels. Alongside other industry experts - including Kirsty Whyte of Soho House, Sue Roberts of Wear and Within and Athina Bluff and Amy Brandhorst of Topology Interiors - Louise discussed the key lifestyle trends set to dominate retail throughout A/W 19/20.


These trends were brought to life in the ‘Trend Café’. The Café occupied a central space within the show and was designed around Louise’s predictions for the season ahead. Leading brands Selfridges, Sheer Luxe, Oliver Bonas and Heals interpreted the trends and curated collections of new-seasons products to represent them.
